Synopsis: The X-Men arrive in the Agarashima harbor, on the deck of the Jinguichi Maru, witness to a Japanese coastline in flames. Since the ship is unable to approach the harbor dockage, Nightcrawler teleports to shore and surveys the damage. The X-Men join him in civilian clothes and decide to head to Sunfire's estate. Wolverine finds a newspaper that says the city had been evacuated. There had been threats of an earthquake. Cyclops feels something is unnatural about this disaster.

Meanwhile, in outer space, Charles has joined the Shi’Ar on their ship, and Lilandra continues to persuade him not to think about Earth and the past, but to look forward to their love.

On Earth, the X-Men make their way to find Sunfire, the Japanese mutant who is their only contact in Japan. Unfortunately, the cranky Sunfire is unsure of their motives and orders them to be arrested by his private guard. Private detectives Colleen Wing and Misty Knight are at the scene and intervene on the X-Men's behalf. They warn him that Japan has been threatened by a terrorist group and they need all the help they can get, especially since they cannot get the help of their friends Luke Cage and Iron Fist, who are busy in America with their own concerns. As the Japanese deliberate, Cyclops tries to call the mansion but the number has been disconnected.

Unseen to all the heroes, a mysterious truck follows their movements, seeming to plan a surprise attack. Meanwhile, Wolverine is taken with Sunfire’s cousin Mariko Yashida and sits beside her in a garden. He is about to introduce himself by his real name, when suddenly another quake rumbles through the property. The X-Men leap into action and come face to face with Mandroids, battle suits designed to attack the Avengers. They don’t long against the X-Men, as Storm, Wolverine, Banshee and the rest dismantle them all with their powers. The battle suits fall apart underneath adamantium claws, sonic vibrations and extreme temperatures. Colossus tears the axle out of the Mandroids’ truck and they are defeated.

However, a hologram of their leader appears. He is Moses Magnum and he announces that if he is not declared ruler of Japan in 24 hours, he will use his powers to sink Japan!
