Welcome to your internet corner store for all the collected editions I can round up from Marvel and DC, as well as a few other surprises! I hope this is an easy and accessible way for you to shop for your Masterworks, Archives and other collections, since they are all rounded up in one place!
Here is how this page works: Below is a box for each type of collected edition, and at the left of the box are links to sales pages for either United States or Canada and UK buyers. (Hopefully, you know which one you are!) Clicking on each link will open a pop-up window to the sales page where you will find a full list of books, with contents for each volume and links to site sponsors Amazon and Tales of Wonder. Directions for how to purchase items are posted at the top of each page. Shopping from this site helps me maintain the costs of the message board and website, so please consider making your purchases through my links as directed to help me keep the overhead low! I have painstakingly created these lists based on ISBN numbers, so they should be very accurate. If you notice any errors or problems with links, feel free to email me corrections!
And now a word about our sponsors: Tales of Wonder and Amazon. Both sites offer great prices and service, and I encourage purchases from them. I shop at both those sites, too! There are lots of books out there to read and enjoy- so happy shopping!
This is what we're all here for! These wonderful hardcover reprints of Marvelous, Masterful Mayhem and Merriment: the Marvel Masterworks! The Marvel Age as rendered by Kirby and Ditko, Lee and Lieber, Big John Buscema, Heck, Colan and Jazzy John! (And Claremont and Byrne!) Dozens and dozens of volumes for now....buy 'em all!
The reprint world's crown jewel, the DC Archives has blown past its 100th volume since the last time I updated this page. In my opinion, it's been the best and most successful reprint of all time, reprinting a wide variety of comics from Action #1 to New Teen Titans and doing it with a regularity that is astounding! Have fun shopping...but more fun reading!
Not only does DC do a fantastic job archiving their own comic properties, but they actively seek out other great comics from beyond their walls to showcase in the luxurious Archives format! Among them are Will Eisner's Spirit, Elfquest, T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents, The Joe Kubert Library: Tor and MAD Magazine.
Marvel's oversized hardcovers are where it's at! Collecting vast amounts of the best runs of today's Marvel comics is what they do, and they do it well! Long runs of Spidey, Fantastic Four, Avengers, Daredevil and Punisher are prime HC targets, and so is Marvel's Ultimate line, with all of their major titles getting OHC treatment.
Fans of the Marvel Omnibus library, also known by the pet name "Omniboo", have come to enjoy the fat-packed hardcovers that reprint hundreds and hundreds of pages of Marvel's most popular runs.
Unlike their oversized brethren, this line of Marvel hardcovers is in the standard-size comic format and typically compiles more modest runs of comics. It gets you Marvel's current and most popular series out to you faster than the OHCs but in a hardcover format that precedes a later trade paperback edition.
The Marvel Premiere Edition Classic line of hardcovers is a counterpoint to Masterworks. Like Masterworks, they are in a standard-sized HC format but they cherrypick across a wide spectrum of classic storylines from Marvel's rich past. They come in a regular edition and a variant edition that has a common library numbering system like the variant Masterworks.
DC's Archives format isn't the only hardcover format in which they publish. No, sir! DC's Absolute Edition format publishes new and old comics material in a luxurious, supersize hardcovers housed in classy slipcases. They also have a wide array of other reprints in standard HC format, plus a series of original graphic novels in hardcover!
From Alan Moore's America's Best Comics, DC has reprinted their entire runs in hardcover editions. But you better act fast, as these puppies seem to go out of print quickly! Tom Strong,
Promethea, Top Ten, Tomorrow Stories and more! They're all here!
Yeah, I'm a hardcover junkie, but sometimes you gotta splurge on the softcover trades. Lots of stuff will never or not too soon get collected in HC. Until then, these will have to do! There are so many trades out there, especially in recent years when Marvel has finally given this format some attention, so I am restricting the sales page to trades that get the Gormuu stamp of quality- so buy with confidence!
I've mellowed on Essentials over the years. Personally, I like having color with my comics, and Essentials are Marvel's line of 500+ page, B+W reprints. But even though I used to pull my sister's hair and pull the heads off her Barbies, at the end of the day I had to admit that I loved her. And as such, how can I truly hate the Essentials? This is such great material despite it being rendered in B+W. If Marvel wants to send its classic comics out for Halloween dressed like a phone book, who am I to say, "No! Stop! For the love of God, PLEASE STOP!!!!"
DC follows suit with Marvel's Essential line, giving fans of DC's classic comics a chance to buy 500+ page collections of comics in black and white! Compared to the Essentials, DC's B+W line is in its infancy, but it is concentrating on really popular material that's already been Archived, or material that is not likely for Archiving any time soon.
Marvel and Barnes&Noble have partnered to produce a small line of softcover versions of the Marvel Masterworks. As of now, there is only a select amount of these books in print, but there may be more forthcoming. These are identical to the hardcover ReMasterworks, except they are in very low-priced softcover editions.
